For the ice fortress that’s slowly melting in too short summer
The battered sapling patient in the eye of savage gales
Only to be ripped from the roots tangled with heartstrings
The crystalline grains of sand stealing after the very last droplet in the last desert storm in a century
Before the earth cracks
in the heat coming off bodies glinting with the residue of lips
